I’m so honored you’re here…

Creating something with my own hands and putting it out into the world was a really big leap for me. I’ve bungee jumped off perfectly good bridges, climbed to the tippy top of mountains, traveled abroad by myself and birthed two babies. And still, this endeavor is one of the most scary I have ever undertaken. So thank you for being here.

I got to this place because I was looking for something for me. Something creative, challenging and interesting. I needed it to hold my attention, but also not take so much from me that it would just add to the burn out I was feeling from my healthcare job. I was looking for something that was unrelated to momming, and something that would give me an excuse to spend more time outdoors.

While on vacation for our anniversary this past summer in Sedona, my husband and I took the advice of a shop owner who told us that if we wanted to escape the cheesy tourist trap shops that were his neighbors, we should check out the trading post down the street. I’m so glad we listened. I spotted the ring neck pheasant feathers while looking through all the other interesting items and could not pass them up. “I have no idea why I need these, but they’re so beautiful,” I told my husband.

A week or so later I was learning all I could about bird hunting, utilizing feathers in art, and anything else that came up in the nose dive I did. It dawned on me that save for a few particular feathers (like the tail) most are disposed of and never enjoyed past the hunt. I guess this is my attempt to lessen that waste, and learn about myself in the process.

Each feather is hand laid, ethically sourced and completely unique. I hope you find something you like.

Why Witty B?

My Grandma Jean was born just before the depression. She was raised to be resourceful and tough, and also had a lot of class. She loved her family well, was really creative and went to hunt camp every fall to cook for whomever was hunting that year, in between her needle point projects. She epitomized grace and grit to me as a young child. She would wrap me up in a huge soft hug when I arrived at her house, and also was tough as nails if I broke a rule or didn’t respect her home. She was an avid seamstress, and I inherited a lot of her fabric when she passed away when I was a kid. Each Witty B hat actually includes a small piece of this fabric. Her maiden name was Witty.

My married name is Baron. Its a family I am proud to be a part of. One filled with hardworking, steadfast, kind humans who love their families and the Lord deeply. Who lean into traditions and who support one another from all over the globe. I couldn’t even pretend to be who I am today without the incredible support my husband shows me every day. This business is just another example of it.
Lastly, if you know me personally, I’m a bit of a smart alec. It has got me in trouble more times than I can count, but I just can’t seem to shut it off. So while I didn’t intend for the name to have the alternative meaning that one might deduce from it, it’s also incredibly fitting.
